This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending my 7 year old daughter's Girl Scout meeting. As I sat crisscross applesauce on the floor amidst the sea of giddy first graders, I was delighted to learn the theme of the day (and badge to be earned) was "courageous and strong."
Only a day after the world women's march, this group of girls were receiving a powerful message of what it is to stand up for yourself and others and further inspired by the story of Esther Hobart Morris, a "can do" women who defied social norms on numerous occasions throughout her life leaving behind the legacy of being the first female voter in the USA and more.
I was filled with humble gratitude throughout the meeting that the empowering inspiring conversation we hold at home was being reinforced here.
Then just yesterday after a gorgeous community call with my fantastic Prism Elite Clients, it was reflected back at me... "I don't think I could navigate these challenging times in the world without this community and conversation..."
For centuries high achievers have boasted their top success strategy being to surround themselves by uplifting people and therefore inspiring conversation and more recently science has proven this to be true... that simply by being with inspiring people, there is an actual vibrational energetic exchange (more on this in a future post!) in which you are truly uplifted.
This week it touched me at a new level to recognize, in fact, it is a fundamental requirement of surrounding oneself in conversations for courage, inspiration, full self expression, and authentic happiness not only as a success strategy, but for everyday sanity.
With this in mind, I invite you now to assess what type of conversations and people you are surrounding yourself by...
... at home
... at work
... at the gym / yoga studio
... professional networking
... church / synagogue / etc.
... personal development community
Do you feel inspired, uplifted, empowered? Or, is it time to consider changing the conversation and/or the company you keep?
As I write this I feel a deep sense of appreciation for my husband with whom, in partnership, we maintain a high level inspiring conversation in our household to both raise our children this way and to support ourselves in maintaining a healthy outlook.
I must confess, though, this does take effort! There are times in which I find myself annoyed and even triggered to "have to" hold this higher conversation of personal empowerment.
Then I remember... this is a choice!
And... I joyfully choose this again and again as I know what comes of this practice... the beautiful life I get to live with my amazing family, friends, clients, communities and beyond that, the confidence, courage and strength to continue honoring my passion and purpose to live, lead and bread this message of authentic happiness...
What do you choose?
